Mesyats May [The Month Of May] was originally released by Julia Parshuta as a single in 2016. It is about a young woman who is a driver towards the end of the second World War whose friends are dying around her not knowing that the war is about to end, referring forward to Den’ Pobedy [Victory Day] commemorating the victory over the National Socialists each year on 9 May. Daneliya gives us a powerful rendition of this song with the passion of someone who had lived through the time expressing perfectly the contrasting feelings of the last days of the war and the joy of returning home and sending chills down the spine of those who listen to it. Daneliya has dedicated this performance to her grandfathers, Satymbek Tuleshev and Kaden Nazaraliev, and all the rest who fouught in World War II, thanking them for the peace that they have brought to the world. This video also has closed captions in Russian, so that you can sing along, and in English, Italian, Polish, Spanish, and Turkish so that speakers of those languages can understand the lyrics. You can follow Daneliya on Facebook, on her vKontakte page, on her vKontakte Community, on Instagram, and on her YouTube channel.
