Sazgen Sazy are a folk ensemble from Kazakhstan. They were formed in 1981 under the auspices of the Republican Museum of Kazakh National Folk Instruments. They play mostly folk music from Kazakhstan using traditional Kazakh instruments, including some that have only recently been resurrected. They also perform music composed by Kazakh musicians and also some material from foreign composers. They perform in costumes that have been hand embroidered and are based on traditional designs.
Je Veux [I Want] was originally released by Zaz on her 2010 album Zaz and as a single. It is about wanting love and happiness and not wanting material things, nor hypocrisy, and false manners. This is an excellent performance from Danelya where she sings flawlessly in French, yet another language in her repertoire, and her mature voice, from such a young and petit artist, mixes well with the traditional Kazakh instruments of Sazgen Sazy. This video was recorded during a live performance from a concert of Kazakh music and musicians in Switzerland called Love from Kazakhstan.
