Over The Rainbow was written for the 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz and was originally sung by Judy Garland. The song has been recorded by many different artists. The best know version, after the original, was recorded by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole as part of a medley with Louis Armstong‘s What a Wonderful World with ukulele accompaniment. This live performance from Emi starts off as a competent country version that clearly pays homage to Izzy Kamakawiwo’ole‘s version but once she has gone through the song once she suddenly launches into the most intense version of this song, combining elements from many different musical styles, and some country yodeling, that will just blow your mind, and then she ends with a more conventional rendition for the final chorus. Unfortunately Emi has yet recorded this song, hopefully she will include this arrangement on a future live album, when she releases one. This performance is from the Jerry Garcia Birthday Celebration concert on 26 August, 2017.
