Hallelujah was originally recorded by Leonard Cohen on his 1984 album Various Positions. Cohen recorded 2 different versions of the song, a studio version in 1984 and a live version in 1994, with only the final verse common to both versions, most performances, including Cohen, use verses taken from both versions. In this version Mariam uses the first 2 verses of the 1984 version and the 3rd verse from the 1994 version, but not the verse that is common to both versions. This clip is from 2014, so it’s a couple of years old now, and Mariam nails it perfectly with the added bonus of her adorable accent that adds to the beauty of the song, and the main problem with the video is that the microphone guard hides Mariam‘s beautiful smile for much of the clip.
