Time for some comedy.
Jilted John was the creation of British comedian and actor Graham Fellows. John was created as a parody of some punk singers and for the song Jilted John, his only hit. While he recorded some more material none of it was successful, though Fellows has had some further success as an actor.
Jilted John was originally recorded as a single in 1978. It is the story of a guy who is dumped by his girlfriend Julie so that she can date Gordon, who is better looking than John, he then meets them at the bus stop on the way to the chip shop, and he lets off a stream of insults, ending with the repeated refrain Gordon is a moron. It was a popular hit, though most boys named Gordon weren’t as keen on the song as others were. This video was recorded from the BBC TV show Top of the Pops.
