Now for a bit of comedy.
Bad News are a parody heavy metal band created by British comedian Ade Edmondson, who is best known for his portrayal as Vyvyan in the TV series The Young Ones. Bad News made their first appearance in 1983 as part of the 1st series of The Comic Strip Presents... in the episode Bad News Tour. Bad News Tour is a satirical fly-on-the-wall rockumentary where the incompetent Bad News are followed by an equally inept documentary film crew. Bad News are often described as a parody of Spinal Tap but the original shows for both bands were in production at the same time and Bad News Tour, being shorter in length, was first aired about a year before This is Spinal Tap. Bad News also made an appearance in a 2nd Comic Strip show called More Bad News in 1988 which included footage from their performance at the Monsters of Rock festival in Donington in 1986. They have also released 5 albums with most tracks appearing on multiple albums.
Bad News consists of Vim Fuego, a.k.a. Alan Metcalfe (played by Edmondson) on vocals and lead guitar; Den Denis (played by Nigel Planer - Neil the hippy on The Young Ones) on rhythm guitar; Colin Grigson (played by Rik Mayall - Rick on The Young Ones, and Fred in the film Drop Dead Fred) on bass; and Spider Webb (played by Peter Richardson) on drums.
Bohemian Rhapsody was 1st recorded by the band Queen and was co-produced by legendary guitarist Brian May. This song has been featured on the blog previously with an impressive ukulele solo by Jake Shimabukuro (you can view that post here) on 15 May, 2014. This version, however, is not of the same musical standard but is played for laughs and is very funny. After the song is finished there is a skit entitled EMI: Every Mistake Imaginable, where the boys discuss their recording contract and a bit more.
