Sally’s Song was originally released on the soundtrack for the 1993 movie The Nightmare Before Christmas where it was sung by Catherine O’Hara, though this was based on the version released by Amy Lee on the 2008 compilation album Nightmare Revisited. It is about having a foreboding that things are going to go wrong for someone the singer has secret feelings for but doesn’t think that anything will come of them. While this redition is clearly based on Amy‘s version of the song Victoria has added her own personality to the mix, making it her own interpretation. This version is much darker than the original, from the film, that better foreshadows the proceeding events and Victoria expresses the feelings of longing and futility over the secret feelings of love in a wonderfully understated fashion that makes them all the more poignant.
