Starman was originally released by David Bowie on his 1972 album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars and as a single. It is about someone who hears a message on the radio from a starman who would like to meet people but is worried about our reaction and is sending a positive message that it is all worthwhile. This is a distinct Twins version that is barely recognisable at the start but the chorus is clearly identifiable, and that’s the bit we all know. It has a distinct early ’60s feel with a guitar solo that is highly reminiscent of early Beatles. The video was filmed on the island of Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands, which provides a suitably alien backdrop with its volcanic landscape, contrasting the beautiful singing of Mona and Lisa.
