Ring of Fire was originally released by Anita Carter on her 1963 album Folk Songs Old And New as (Love’s) Ring of Fire and as a single, but it was made famous when Johnny Cash released it on his album Ring of Fire: The Best of Johnny Cash and as a single later in 1963. It is about love, comparing it to a burning ring of fire that, although love tastes sweet it burns with passion. This is a delightful, acoustic version with a distinct retro feel. Erin has slowed the song down giving it a more somber feel and adding a note of regret and feeling of being trapped, and all with a beautiful melodic line, and all combined in totally original package.
