2Cellos – Cavatina

2Cellos is a Croatian group that play all styles of music, from classical to pop, to film music, to rock, to heavy metal on 2 cellos. The performers are Luka Šulić (born in what is now Slovenia) and Stjepan Hauser (born in what is now Croatia).  Both performers graduated from prestigious music schools in 2011: Luka from the Royal Academy of Music in London and Stjepan from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

 

Cavatina was originally released as part of the soundtrack of the 1970 film The Walking Stick, though it is better known when it was released by John Williams on his 1971 album Changes and was later used as the main theme in the 1978 movie The Deer Hunter. This is a beautiful version of the piece arranged for 2 cellos and symphony orchestra that the boys released on their 2017 album Score. For this performance the boys are joined by the London Symphony Orchestra, as they are on all tracks from that album. It is also accompanied by a beautiful video clip of the boys playing their cells in a forrest.
