Andrei Cerbu is a young Romanian guitarist. He started playing guitar at the age of 7 after his father showed him some videos of famous guitarists on YouTube. At 10 years old he first competed in the Lasi Guitar Festival competition and took out first place the following year. He has since developed a strong following and has played in a variety of bands, including performing alongside some of the most prestigious musicians in Romania. He also works with many up and coming artists in Romania and internationally, as well as regularly performing with German drummer Sina and the talented performers that she is helping to develop and promote.
Nothing Else Matters was originally released by Metallica on their 1992 album Metallica and as a single. It is about a relationship where the singer has opened up for the first time and is so committed to the relationship that nothing else matters. This excellent version, from 2 talented young performers, was recorded in 2 different countries, on 2 different continents, in just 2 days. Andrei suggested the song, and sent his guitar part and video to Victoria and the next day she returned the finished product. This rendition would be impressive if it had taken weeks in the studio but to have produced in so quickly, under such difficult conditions, makes it even more astounding. It starts with a quiet guitar introduction and then, after Victoria‘s vocals start it slowly builds to an intensity worthy of any metal performance, with Victoria‘s voice and Andrei‘s guitar sharing the spotlight, finally returning the quiet guitar outro, with a little strings, having taken you through the full gamut of emotions for the song.
