Today’s post is dedicated to Veronica‘s Nannu, who recently passed away.
Veronica Rotin is a young Maltese and Australian singer. She was born in Malta and then lived in Melbourne, Australia for a few years before returning to Malta. She is another of the incredibly talented singers to emerge from the legendary La Voix Academy in Malta under the tutelage of the amazing Gillian Attard. At the age of 9 years, Veronica made it to the finals of the Italian TV talent show Io Canto (I Sing) in 2013. The following year she entered the World Festival Association's (WAF) XI International contest for young talents Lake Pearls, held in FYR Macedonia, in which she not only won her category but was also awarded the Grand Prix for the whole event and has been invited to perform at next summer's WAF event in Russia. She performed as a part of the interval act at the 2014 Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) in Malta.
Memory is originally from the 1981 musical Cats. It is a nostalgic look towards the past with a determination to go on with with life despite what has happened. While the original is looking back on lost youth but with the small change that Veronica makes to the lyrics the song it can be re-interpreted to be about a loss, for example when a loved one passes on, looking back on the times previously and realising that you need to make a new life after the loss.
You can follow Veronica on Facebook, on her sister's YouTube channel, and on her own YouTube channel. You can buy her recording for the Italian TV talent show Io Canto on iTunes.
