Sina is a young German drummer. She started playing drums at the age of 10 and, being the daughter of professional musician Mike Wilbury, she started her recording career shortly after that. In 2013 she started a YouTube channel that quickly became popular, and released her first solo album in 2016, collaborating with a variety of performers, including young talents and experienced professionals, mostly hooking up through Facebook and YouTube.
Something was originally released by The Beatles on their 1969 album Abbey Road and as a single. It is a love song to a woman who totally captivates the singer, George Harrison originally claimed that the song was about his then wife Pattie Boyd, who was later married to Eric Clapton, but he later claimed that it was about universal love. This is an incredible version that is amongst the best renditions of the song. It starts very laid-back with just Avonlea playing the ukulele and singing, then, keeping the laid-back feel, other instruments join in building up until Sina joins in on drums and we first hear the guitar, performing the songs characteristic solo, and the song kicks up a notch or two and its rock roots take the forefront. Avonlea gives the vocals her own unique treatment, so that if you didn’t know the song’s history you would have no way of knowing that it wasn’t written specifically for her, and completely fills the sound-space on it’s own during the early quiet part and still dominates during the fuller arrangement where Sina‘s drumming is mixed as a lead instrument that supports and perfectly compliments the superb vocals and guitar lead.
