Another performance that is too good to wait until next year despite being from a singer who has already been featured during the Christmas season.
Daria Stefan is a young Romanian singer. Music has always been a part of her life but at 6 years of age she started singing with the Miracle Group and became a solo act at the age of 9. She studies with the Romanian composer Marius Teicu. She has taken part in many singing competitions, winning many of them.
Colind Ceresc [(eavenly Carol] is a Romanian Carol that was written in 1938 by Romanian poet Radu Gyr. It tells the story of the birth of Christ and how it is celebrated in Heaven in symbolic language. This a cappella performance from Daria, the only non-vocal sounds are from bells at the start and finish, is sung with beauty and reverence with pure notes that are heavenly in themselves. A heavy echo has been added to the sound to give the impression that it has been recorded in the chamber of a great cathedral, which is the appropriate venue for such a magnificent performance that captures your attention and stops time while Daria sings.
