Time for some comedy.
The Muppets are a group of puppet characers originally created in the USA by Jim Henson. They were created in 1955 and first appeared on the TV show Sam and Friends. They were an integral part of the children's TV show Sesame Street from its inception in 1969 and achieved international stardom. In 1976 they produced The Muppet Show TV series in the UK cementing their popularity. Following this they appeared in many different TV shows and movies. The rights to The Muppets, and to some previous Muppet productions, were bought by the Walt Disney Company who have instigated new Muppet projects, including films and a new TV series.
Give My Regards to Broadway is originally from the 1908 musical Little Johnny Jones and was originally performed by George M. Cohen. It is a sentimental song from an American in London whose friend is traveling to the USA while the singer stays in the UK. This version is supposedly the auditions from various Muppets for the 90th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade where the Muppets perform the opening number of the TV broadcast of the parade (you can watch the whole parade here, it also includes blog favourite Grace Vanderwaal singing I Don’t KnowMy Name at about 1 hour 17 minutes in, and Miss Piggy reappears, singing Santa Claus Is Coming To Town with Tony Bennett at about 2 hours in). In the video only the Muppets only sing the chorus, and it features Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, the Swedish Chef, Dr. Teeth and Animal, and other Muppet favourites.
You can follow The Muppets on their Official US Website, on their Official UK Website, on Facebook, on Twitter, on Instagram, on Tumblr, and on their YouTube channel. You can buy their recordings on iTunes.
