Kon’ [Horse] was originally released by Lyube on their 1994 album Zona Lyube [Lube Zone]. It is a song that is firmly in the Russian folk tradition and tells of taking a horse across the field at night, to ride at sunrise in an attempt to reach the horizon and catch the sun. This video is taken from a live a cappella performance by Yasya with backing from the chamber choir Lik. Yasya gives an excellent performance, even without the support of an instrumental backing, displaying the full musical quality of her voice, transfixing the audience and transferring the listener to a magical place by the beauty of her performance, even to those who do not understand the words she is singing.
