Time for some comedy.
Madness were a British ska band that were a prominent band in the 2-Tone ska revival of the late 1970s and 1980s. They were formed in 1976 in London, England and released their first single in 1979 on the 2-Tone label before moving to Stiff Records. They took their name from a song by legendary Jamaican ska singer Prince Buster and their first single was a tribute to The Prince. While the band have had various members over the years the main lineup is: Suggs (real name Graham McPherson) on lead vocals; Chas Smash on trumpet, backing vocals, dancing, harmonica, and guitar; Chris Foreman on guitar; Mike Barson on keyboards and backing vocals; Lee Thompson on saxophone, percussion and backing vocals; Mark Bedford on bass; and Daniel Woodgate on drums.
House of Fun was originally released as a single in 1982. It is the story of a teenage boy on his 16th birthday, the legal age of consent in the United Kingdom, and is trying to buy condoms from the local chemist, but he is too embarrassed to use the correct words and insists on using euphemisms that the chemist doesn’t understand and, to make matters worse, his female school teacher also enters the chemist shop.
