Time for some comedy.
The Dickies are an American punk rock band based in California. They are best know for doing cover versions of well known songs at much greater speeds but they also have a large body of original material. They are known as the Clown Princes of Punk and added a great sense of fun to hard core punk music. They were formed in 1977 and have gone through a number of line-up changes over the years. During their most successful period in the late 1970s their line up was: Leonard Graves Phillips on lead vocals and keyboards; Stan Lee on guitars and vocals; Chuck Wagon on keyboards, guitars, saxophone and vocals; Billy Club on bass and vocals; and Karlos Kaballero on drums.
Banana Splits (Tra La La Song) was originally recorded as the theme song for the The Banana Splits Adventure Hour TV show. The Dickies recorded this fast-paced, punk version in 1979 and it is their biggest hit, reaching number 7 on the UK charts. Not only did they speed up the song but also had a lot of fun making the video clip.
