Queen are a British band who were amongst the most successful bands ever and consisted of Freddie Mercury (Farrokh Bulsara) on lead vocals and piano, Brian May on guitar and vocals, John Deacon on bass, and Roger Taylor on drums and vocals. Queen started playing music that was heavily influenced by Heavy Metal and Progressive Rock but quickly broadened their style to cover many different genres. Their first 4 albums are regularly considered to be amongst the greatest albums ever produced, after this their recording became more focussed on singles and then became even more successful. After Freddie Mercury died in 1991 and John Deacon retired in 1997, the remaining members continued with occasional performances using other performers.
We Will Rock You was originally recorded for the 1977 album News of the World, and released as a double A-side single with We Are the Champions. It is frequently used as an anthem at sporting competitions all around the world.
