Ana Ng was originally released as a part of the 1988 album Lincoln and was the lead single from the album. It is about having an imaginary lover in another country, on the other side of the world, that you never meet. The name was arrived at when John Linnell was looking through the New York phone book and noticed that about 4 pages were devoted to the name Ng, a name he had never heard of. It references the 1964 New York World’s Fair and several of the exhibits that were there. The video clip adds to the absurdity of the lyrics to produce a truly surreal experience.
