Bob Marley was a Jamaican reggae singer / songwriter and guitarist. He is the most successful reggae performer, selling more records than all other reggae performers put together. Marley was originally a part of the Wailers, along with Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer, but when the trio split Marley kept the name for his backing band. He was born a Catholic but converted to Rastafarism in the 1960s. He died in May, 1981 from cancer after having refused surgery for religious reasons. He left a legendary body of work, with his album Exodus being named as the best album of the 20th century by Time magazine.
One Love was originally recorded by The Wailers in 1965 as a single in Jamaica. This version was recorded for the 1977 Album Exodus and later released as an international single in 1984 to promote the greatest hits album Legend. This video is the winning entry for the competition to celebrate the Marley inspired, limited edition Satisfy My Soul flavour of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and was made by fans of Bob Marley.
